Madhu B. Krishnamurti, Attorney/ Mediator
Madhu B. Krishnamurti is a compassionate attorney and mediator dedicated to helping people contemplating divorce or ending their relationship to understand how to divide up their finances, allocate parental responsibilities, make sense of child support and spousal support obligations, and navigate the emotional turmoil these can cause.
Madhu’s growing self-realization of her genuine interest in people, gentleness and patience with their emotions and frailties, ability to listen, approachability, perceptiveness, intuition, and sensitivity has organically guided her to now focus almost exclusively on family law. Previously, Madhu had concentrated in and developed a respected real estate law practice. Her practice incorporated both the transactional and litigation aspects of all things real estate. Madhu’s transition to family law began with her exposure to divorce and family mediation and collaborative law. These approaches aim to assist those going through one of the most painful experiences of their lives privately, with dignity and without expensive court battles. This philosophy aligns exactly with Madhu’s own. As a result, she has become a trained attorney mediator and a trained collaborative law attorney.
Of course, Madhu knows that not all divorces and family dynamics can be resolved in this way. Some need the aid of the courts. When this becomes necessary, not only will her clients have her litigation experience at the ready but also that of Klein Coté Edwards Citron LLC’s team of highly successful litigators.
Madhu received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Vanderbilt University in 1977. After teaching, traveling the world, working for many years in the legal profession as a legal secretary and paralegal, a marriage, a child and a divorce, she went back to school and obtained her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1999. She was the recipient of its 1998-1999 Legal Aid Award.
Madhu practices in all areas of family law. She offers divorce and family mediation services, collaborative law, and unbundled and full traditional legal services. She also devotes numerous hours to providing pro bono legal work through Alpine Legal Services and pro bono mediations through Jefferson County Mediation Services.
